Pluto
This week for reading we have been working on Pluto.First we had
to pick a side if we thought Pluto was a planet or not I thought it
was. Then we had to read a piece of writing about Pluto. Then we
had to take notes on this chart bellow. We had to put it
into sections witch are general, helpful and harmful. This is my
chart bellow.
WALT: Take notes in our own words
Topic: Pluto is a planet
Source 1 | Title: The problem with pluto | Date 1/9/20 |
As you read the article, take notes about the important information. Remember: you don’t need to write in full sentences
General | Helpful | Harmful |
Pluto is so far away from the sun that it takes 248 Earth years to make an orbit. Pluto is now a dwarf planet. Pluto is mainly ice. Pluto has three moons around it. | Pluto orbits a star. It must be big enough for its gravity to pull it into a round shape. | It must be big enough to clear most other objects out of the path of its orbit. |
Source 2 | Title: Why is pluto no longer a planet | Date 1/9/20 |
As you read the article, take notes about the important information. Remember: you don’t need to write in full sentences
General | Helpful | Harmful |

Digital Technology
This week we did Digital Technology and we got a photo taken with me doing some sort of pose. After we took the photo, we put the photo on to a website Remove background. Then we put that photo onto a google drawing. After we did that we went onto a website called unsplash to find a background. Once we have got one you have to put it on the google drawing. I made two here they are.
Explanation writing
For the first five weeks of this term we have been doing Explanation writing. I have done one on the life cycle of a pumpkin.
The life cycle of a pumpkin
A pumpkin is something you eat and you probably didnt didnt think there was a
life cycle but there is the seed, sprout, vine, flower, green pumpkin and a orange
pumpkin.
Before you plant the pumpkin seed you have to put in the sun to dry.
Once it is they are dry you can plant them. Once they have been planted it takes
about 2 to 4 weeks to sprout. After about 7 to 10 days the sprout should have
turned into a vine.
Once the vine has sprouted there will be flowers that appear on the vine.
The flowers mean that there is going to be green pumpkins ( unripe pumpkins ).
That is the life cycle of a pumpkin which are the seed, sprout, vine, flower, green
pumpkin and a orange pumpkin.

Explanation Writing
For writing we are working on Explanation Writing. I have done a piece of writing about the life cycle of a butterfly.
The life cycle of a butterfly
The life cycle of a butterfly is a pretty easy cycle. There are only 4 stages which include egg, caterpillar, cocoon and butterfly.
The cycle starts off with an egg. The adult lays eggs on the milkweed then the eggs will hatch within a four day period of time.
The next stage is the caterpillar. The caterpillar will go into a cocoon and stay there for about ten to fourteen days. The caterpillar will then start turning into a butterfly.
The butterfly will hatch out of the cocoon. The butterfly's wings have to dry before they can fly, it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the wings are dry the butterfly will flap its wings and learn to fly. The butterfly will live for up to 4 weeks.
Now you know lots about the life cycle of a butterfly.
